“Not just a beautiful language!”
Also an Official Language in International organizations

Italian: A Language of International Standing
Hello everyone from Podere Cerbaia!
In these quiet days, while nature here in Tuscany rests in anticipation of spring, I found myself reflecting on our identity. Often, when we think of Italian, we associate it with opera, poetry, or, of course, great food (like the meals we love to share here!). But did you know that our language is also a key player in global diplomacy? Italian is Official Language in many International Organizations.
A Language of International Standing It’s not just about charm! Our language has been one of the official languages of the European Union since its founding in 1958. This means every European piece of legislation and official document has the same legal value in Italian as it does in English or French.

But it doesn’t stop there: organizations such as the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and the FAO recognize our language as an institutional pillar.
Beyond the EU and the UN, Italian language holds a prestigious position within a wide array of global institutions. It is one of the six official languages of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) and an official and working language of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), which is proudly headquartered in Roma. https://www.fao.org/home/
Furthermore, it serves as a working language for the Council of Europe and the ILO (International Labour Organization).
Our language is the primary official tongue of both the Vatican City and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and it is even recognized by the European Patent Office and Interpol for specific international cooperation activities. This widespread presence confirms that Italian is not just a language of art and food, but a vital tool in modern global governance.

Italian Language experience in our agriturismo. Hospitality is communication. When we welcome guests from all over the world to Podere Cerbaia, we realize that Italian is not just a way to order a glass of wine; it is a cultural bridge. Knowing that our language is “infuential” and “officially “recognised” in the halls of Brussels or at the UN headquarters in Rome and NY makes us proud of our roots.
